So a little about me….
I live in San Diego, CA, with my wife and two children (5 year old daughter, and 2 year old son). I work full time for a financial services firm (known as a broker-dealer) in the insurance department as the operations specialist. From my office window, I can see the San Diego Convention Center where they hold San Diego Comic-Con every year. I also work part time as a weekend night auditor for a major hotel chain in La Jolla, CA, and one weekend a month, I am a sergeant with an engineer battalion in the Army Reserves based out of Camp Pendleton Marine Base.
I’m somewhat new to the whole world of Chuck. I discovered this fantastic show at the beginning of August 2014, and since then, have discovered an amazing cult following to this show, including this blog. I had seen the icon on NetFlix forever, but one evening, after finding out the Angelina Jolie movie Wanted was not available for streaming, I thought Chuck would be similar, what with a sexy secret agent and dork partner. I don’t think I’ve ever made a better mistake in my life.
I was intrigued at first, and by the end of the first episode, I couldn’t wait to start the second…and the third, and fourth, etc. I finished all 5 years worth of episodes in less then three weeks, and immediately started over from the beginning. To me, this show has it all; comedy, action, romance, and lead characters you wish were real people. Damned few shows can make me laugh so hard I have to rewatch the scene because most of it was drowned out by my own laughter…and this happens several times an episode. And the acting, in particular Yvonne, is phenomenal. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this show only lasted 5 seasons when there are soooo many other shows with a much, much bigger yawn factor that last so much longer.
For those of you who follow such things, I discovered Chuck about a week after San Diego Comic-Con ended. After Googling the show and all the actors, I discovered Zach Levi holds his NerdHQ mini-con every year during the SDCC at the San Diego Padres stadium. This is a charity event, and admission is free. This year, Yvonne Strahovski made a guest appearance at one of the NerdHQ Q&A panels. The Padres’ stadium is about 1 1/2 miles from my office, and I didn’t even know it was happening until LESS THAN A WEEK after it ended. Chuck and Sarah on the same stage 1 1/2 miles from where I was and I MISSED IT!! Did I mention it was free….? To say I am “disappointed” would be a gross understatement….
I came to Chuckaholics because it is a great place to discuss Chuck and Chuck-related things without driving my family crazy. I look forward to contributing to the blog, interacting with other members and visitors, and reading the thoughts and opinions of other Chuck fans!
“Don’t freak out!”
